Co-CEO’s Message

Blessings and peace to you all.
New Way of Southwest Louisiana was built on the strong foundation of the Lord. It was birthed out when we had no resources, no money, and no credit. We fought for it when it was under another ownership, we fought for it when the Lord blessed us with it, and we continue with a daily fight to keep it. It was built through blood, sweat, and tears. We gave our lives to the ministry, the company that God blessed us with despite the odds.
One of the owners tried a similar business years ago, and it failed before it began. The state of Louisiana issued a moratorium the day after the application was mailed. Honor for the initial nosiness goes to the one who started New Way Mental Health resources, Susan Patsicostas, a brilliant therapist, a loving and kind-hearted lady filled with compassion, and a dear friend of both owners.
When the second owner came on board and the company was in the red for $190,000, she brought forth the Spirit of the Living God, and it brought life back to what was dead. She stopped her future business partner from shutting  what was then called New Way Mental Health Resources completely down. Our covenant partnership was officially formed in 2005 when we took ownership of New Way of Southwest Louisiana. From there we continued to fight day and night, continuing to work seven days a week. We sacrificed everything to serve the youth in Ville Platte and the neighboring cities, giving them the highest quality of services possible. In the last few years we lost a large number of outpatient staff and two-thirds of our clients because we chose to continue doing what was right. New Way was built and remains focused on carrying out work in the mental health profession with integrity of healing and recovery for clients and their families.
In 2010 God once again did the impossible. He blessed us with 9.65 acres of land, a beautiful sought-after property. He made a promise to the Spiritual Head of New Way that by the end of the year, we would take over the property. On December 31, 2010, we received keys to the property, though we had no money and no credit. No bank would give us a loan. We established an agreement for a bond for deed with a pastor from Texas who contacted one of the owners and stated that God led him to contract her as a fellow pastor to help her gain the property so that His ministry would take place there. She would do what he was unable to do. Having shut down four satellite offices, we moved into the property on January 1, 2011. We prepared policies and procedures for a year and prepared the grounds for the following year to meet state standards. In 2013, we opened New Way of Southwest Louisiana Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF). We served for six months through injustice without our program being funded except by the sheer grace of God as we sought to add to our accreditation.
We serve residential boys from all areas of the state of Louisiana. New Way gives the love of Christ. It provides the highest level of clinical services. While Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Family Systems Therapy are our favorite clinical choices, New Way implements Eclectic Therapy, as our goal is to provide improvement to the mental health of our clients and families as quickly and as effectively as we are able to do so. We target the unique needs of each patient to overcome a number of emotional or psychological issues. We provide holistic services. Finally, we are honored for each day we are able to service our clients and their families. We welcome those who are hurting or broken to come and be served.
